Caramelized Onions

Sweet onions, caramelized to perfection.

Morsels of Life - Caramelized Onions - Sweet onions, caramelized to perfection.

Caramelized onions are one of those things you can use to make just about any dish taste better. Just thinking about it now, I'm craving some Garlicky Mashed Sweet Potatoes with these caramelized onions! Anyway, I just realized I've never posted a recipe for caramelized onions. I have spicy caramelized onions, but I also started posting step by step images, so I thought I'd go ahead and fix all those issues by posting this recipe with step by step images! I like making a large batch and then freezing leftovers since it does take a while to make a batch. I won't go on too much longer since I'm pretty sure you're more interested in the recipe than my rambling. :)

How do you like to use caramelized onions?

  2. I'd recommend cooking on low, and you can go as long as overnight. I'm not sure what the "shortest" possible time would be, but you could check it once in a while and see when they're caramelized to your desired level.

Hopefully this information is helpful. If you've got more questions, please ask! :)
