Plum 'Mater

Morsels of Life - Plum 'Mater - An interesting, yet refreshing combo of salty dried plum and sweet tomato.

I've always liked this interesting combo of a dried plum (the kind you get from the Asian grocery) and a tomato. You basically cut a hole into the tomato and push a dried plum down, then let the flavors meld together. I usually do this step at least overnight in the refrigerator. Once the flavors meld, you have the sweetness of the tomato playing against the saltiness of the plum to create a refreshing treat.

What's an odd treat you enjoy?

An interesting, yet refreshing combo of salty dried plum and sweet tomato.

Materials:

Mass Weight Volume Number Material Notes
1 tomato I used a Roma tomato.
1-2 dried plum(s)

Methods:

  1. Make hole in top of tomato. I like to cut through all the seed compartments to allow for faster flavor diffusion.
  2. Push plum into hole.
  3. Refrigerate overnight to let flavors meld.
